The DSM-IV-TR divides mental retardation into four levels: mind,moderate,sever,and profound. Children with mind mental retardation can feed and dress themselves with minimal , may or may not have average motor skills, and can learn to talk and write in simple terms. They can navigate their own neighborhoops well, although they may not be able to venture farther without halp. If they receive training that addresses their specific deficits, they can achieve a high school education and become self-sufficient. As adults, they can shop for specific items and cook simple meals for themselves. They may be employed in unskilled or semiskilled jobs. Their scores on IQ tests tend to be between about 50 and 70.
