Thus research has paid considerable
attention to some topics such as chemical equilibrium, acids and bases, stoichiometry,
electrochemistry, particulate nature of matter, bonding (Garnett, Garnett, and
Hackling 1995; Griffiths 1994), physical and chemical change, dissolution and solutions
and combustion (Griffiths 1994). Since solutions are essential for explaining
chemical phenomena and daily life (see Ebenezer 2001), several studies including a
review have been conducted in both determining students’ alternative conceptions of
solution chemistry and overcoming them.
