Physical and chemical properties of the soil were measured using standard methods for soil analysis. Soil was characterized as sandy loam(81.5% sand, 15% silt, 3.5% clay) using the Bouyoucos method (Bouyoucos, 1950), with pH 8.37 observed under a soil/water ratio of 1:1 (W/V). Its organic carbon contentwas 9 g/kg (Garcia, 2005). The content of water was 1.74%, and the electrical conductivity was 0.33 dS/m (Rhoades, 1996). The ionic exchange capacity was 0.2 cmol/kg, ammonia 2 mg/kg and nitrate 13 mg/kg (Maynard and Kalra, 1993). The phosphorus content was 59 mg/kg. The aluminum
concentration was 0.054 mg/kg, and the manganese concentration was 1 mg/kg (Carter, 1993).
