3.1. Comparison of the velocity distribution on the screen deck
Particle velocity along the screen deck has a close relationship
to both separating capacity and the screening efficiency. The
screening processes for each vibration mode are shown in Fig. 3
and the variation in average particle velocity parallel to the screen
deck was calculated. The results are shown in Fig. 4. The particle
velocities show significant periodic variations but gradually settle
down to a stable state. The average velocity for the linear mode
is the highest at 0.193 m/s, while the circular mode is the lowest
value at 0.137 m/s. The average velocity for the elliptical mode is
0.169 m/s, which falls between the two other modes.
