Our approach depends upon the
location. In areas of water scarcity,
such as Oman, Algeria and Libya, we
review regional water sources to
establish the risks and potential impacts
of our work. This includes developing
an understanding of how the water is
currently used, for example, by local
communities. This allows us to design
our water withdrawals use and
discharge systems in a way that
minimizes impacts. Many of the areas
of water stress where we operate are
in mature regulatory environments – for
example in Europe, the US and Australia
– where we work closely with regulators
and other stakeholders to optimize water
consumption.
