The standard sampling unit size used, based on the Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) grid, was a 1 1 km square in order to include at least one core-area of the Eurasian badger, which has the larger home-range (8.86 km2 ) and core-area (0.99 km2 ) registered for the mammalian species inhabiting the area (Rosalino et al., 2004).
