4. Discussion
In this study, changes in water quality from upstream to down-stream of the facility were as expected for each variable except forRP during Summer 2013. DO and Chl-a concentration decreased aswater passed through the oyster aquaculture facility. Correspond-ing with this decrease was an increase in TAN. NO3−–N and NO2−–Nconcentrations remained the same, as did temperature and salinity.All upstream water quality variables fell within ranges reported inprevious studies conducted in the Choptank River estuary (Fisheret al., 2006; Glibert et al., 2001; Stevenson et al., 1993).
