The standard deviation of EPBA was higher than MA (Table 1) indicating greater inter assay variation in the former method. This could be due to variation in coating of micro wells with folate conjugate from batch to batch which can affect the binding of enzyme conjugate. Besides, inaccurate addition of any of the reagents and inaccurate washing and incubation conditions are likely to affect the color development and final folate value. Analysis of a multivitamin tablet showed a folic acid content of 300 + 67 and 257+ 56lg per tablet (label claim 300 lg), when assayed by MA and EPBA,respectively. The folic acid content of fortified flour was less than the total folate value measured by the tri-enzyme technique (138lg=100 g)
