2.3. Extraction and clean-up apparatusAn ALC (Milan, Italy) multispeed refrigerated centrifuge PK131R,and a model ST ultrasonic bath at a frequency of 50 ± 3 Hz from Stimin (Milan, Italy) were used. Tubes, frits and the vacuum mani-fold were from Supelco (Bellefonte, PA, USA).All samples were extracted and cleaned by SPE cartridges usingGCB. Carbograph-4 [22,27–30] was supplied by LARA (Rome, Italy).Carbograph-4 is a GCB with a surface area of 210 m2g−1and particlesize range of 120–400 mesh, similar to Carboprep 200 (Restek) andEnvicarb X (Supelco).Cartridges were prepared by filling 6 mL precleaned polypro-pylene tubes with 500 mg of the adsorbent placed between twopolyethylene frits. Before processing samples, these cartridgeswere attached to a vacuum manifold apparatus and washedsequentially with 5 mL of methanol, 10 mL of water at pH = 2, and10 mL of water.
