Compost could be utilized for a dual purpose as bioremedia-tion and soil amendment. It supplies nutrients to soil indigenous microorganisms. The microorganisms therefore degrade the targetcontaminants [7–9]. Phytoremediation is also an emerging technol-ogy that is suitable for cleaning organic and inorganic pollutants incontaminated sites because of its cost-effectiveness and long-termapplicability with aesthetic advantage [10,11]. This technologydescribes efficient use of plants to remove, detoxify or immobilize environmental contaminants in soil, water or sediment [12,13].
