DV belongs to the flavivirus genus, which also contains several
other important human-pathogens, such as yellow fever,
tick-borne encephalitis, west nile virus (WNV) and Japanese
encephalitis viruses [3]. Currently DV is classified into four genetically
distinct serotypes (DV1, DV2, DV3 and DV4), but the whole
genome of all DV serotypes is made up of a single stranded
(ss) RNA inside a 50-nm diameter virion that consists of an
icosahedral nucleocapsid enclosed in a lipoprotein envelope [4].
