HISTORICAL ASPECTS
The industry in question is a metallurgical one dedicated to fabrication of aluminum laminates since
early sixties. The foundations for all buildings are shallow footings at a depth of about 2,5 m. The anodization and extrusion buildings presented the major problems. In the anodization process are used both acids (sulphuric and hydrochloric acids, particularly) and alkaline (caustic soda) fluids, while at extrusion building caustic soda is extensively used for cleaning and washing equipment parts. In both buildings there are storage tanks for these products and they circulate through buried pipes and tanks. There are records of spills and leakages in both buildings.
