3. Application
The interest for applications of FGMs exhibits due to their superior features than those of traditional composite materials. After more than 30 years of research, applications of FGMs are delivering in both expected and unexpected ways to benefit the society. Most benefits of these materials depend on the fact that it can be tailored according to the requirements, thus greatly extends the well-used toolkits of materials science. Initially FGMs are used in aerospace but during the last decades, researchers shows its application in other fields, like industrial materials, optoelectronics, biomaterials, and energy materials as depicted in Fig. 3. FGMs offer great promise in severe operating and loading conditions.
