3.3. Coal
Coal is an important resource in the energy mix in some countries
like USA and China, but it only contributes 0.21% of the energy
mix in Iran as presented in Table 6 [43]. The total production of
coal in Iran is estimated 2.73 million tons in 2008 and the most
amount of coal is produced by mines in Kerman and Yazd which are 954.5 and 833.4 thousand tons respectively. In fact, these two
mines produce about 65.4% of total production of coal in Iran
