In his bid to replace global rivals such as Gap Inc. as the peddler of choice when shopping for crew neck sweaters, fleece jackets, and underwear, Fast Retailing’s chairman (and its biggest shareholder) Tadashi Yanai is no less dedicated to realizing his earlier brash goal to earn $10 billion in overall North American sales by 2020 with a hefty 20% of that coming from e-commerce. Shin Odake, CEO of Uniqlo U.S., toldWWD: “Judging from the market, I felt that 20 percent is a reasonable target. Generally speaking, our competitors do close to 20 percent of their sales online.”
