Quirinal Palace is situated in Piazza Quirinale. The palace is the official residence of the President of the Italian Republic.
In the center of the square, the Quirinal fountain and obelisk are the focal points. Huge Roman statues of Castor and Pollux preside over the scene. The two statues represent the patrons of horsemanship and are featured with prancing horses.
Fitting for the president, the palace has beautiful grounds with gardens from the 18th century. The building was designed by several notable architects: Domenico Fontana designed the facade.
