Anti-imperialist American
-Formed in 1898, this league opposed the annexation of the Philippines captured as a prize in the Spanish American war. It was compromised of many powerful people including Grover Cleveland mark twain and Andrew Carnegie.
-The anti-imperialists were led by senator henry m. teller, who included in the war bill a promise that the United States would not annex Cuba following the war. Anti-imperialists did not, however. Prevent the establishment of an American military government on the island, nor did they manage to protect in advance the independence of other territories claimed during the war.
