peptidoleukotriene LTC4 by the enzyme LTC4 synthase.
LTC4 synthase has been recognized as an 18 kDa integral
microsomal membrane protein and has recently been
cloned [13]. The nucleotide and deduced amino acid
sequences of its complementary deoxyribonucleic acid
(cDNA) show no significant homology to glutathione S
transferases but share amino acid identity with FLAP
[13]. Interestingly, MK-886, a FLAP inhibitor, inhibits
LTC4 synthase activity.
