In this new year and new decade, full of problems
and potentials in health care and society,
the power of interdisciplinary teams in improving
care for acutely ill elders is more important than
ever. Geriatric competence in specialty nursing
only works well in achieving patient outcomes
as part of an effective interdisciplinary team.
However, challenges to achieving geriatric team
identity and effective teamwork in acute and critical
care require us to revisit the nature of the interdisciplinary
team.
