Our entire team at the Skoll Global Threats Fund is very excited about our upcoming learning trip to Chiang Mai and we very much look forward to spending time with you to learn more about your work! We would like to optimize our team's time in Chiang Mai with you and are interested in hosting a grantee orientation to discuss the grants process and grant report requirements from SGTF as well as answer any questions or feedback you may have for us regarding our grants process. We thought this might be a good opportunity to new grantees as well as existing grantees to clarify any questions you may have and for me to review our guidelines and process in detail so that we can work through our grants process smoothly going forward.
Bunny and I spoke briefly on the phone last month about this idea and there seem to be strong interest from her end. We are proposing Dec. 1 for this meeting, perhaps a few hours from 10-12pm in the morning. We are looking into the possibility to holding this at the Chiang Mai University. But if you have other suggestions for a location in Chiang Mai that would be most convenient to you, I am happy to go to a different location.
This meeting is not mandatory for you to attend, and feel free to invite other representatives from your organization who may be working closely with grant reporting/ finance & administration or proposal writing and may be helpful for them to manage the Skoll Global Threats Fund grant.
It would be great if you could let me know if you are interested in this grantee orientation, and who from your organization would be able to attend so that we could plan accordingly.
Some initial topics we could discuss are:
Background information/ history about the Skoll Global Threats Fund and U.S. Private foundations in general
Pandemics team structure ( now that we have a larger team, we can clarify the roles of each pandemics team member to prevent confusion about who to contact for what purposes)
Our grantmaking process in detail
Proposal and reporting guidelines such as how to prepare a grant proposal, grant report and finance report.
Feedback from you on how we can improve our grants process
Any other fundraising related questions you may have? or any clarification questions you may have about our guidelines and process?
I look forward to hearing your thoughts and meeting you in person in December!
