Table 5 presents the fatty acid composition of extracts obtained
by SC-CO2 at 40 ◦C and 300 bar, and by Soxhlet using hexane. Both
extracts contained mainly linolenic and linoleic acids, around 50
and 34%, respectively, these results being in agreement with a previous
report [2]. Bernardo-Gil et al. [35] reported no significant
difference in the fatty acid profiles of pumpkin (Cucurbita ficifolia)
seed oils obtained by SC-CO2 extraction and by hexane extraction.
Devittori et al. [36] reported no significant difference in the
fatty acid profiles of SC-CO2- and hexane-extracted oils of millet
bran. The properties of the Sacha inchi seed oil extracted by
SC-CO2 and by conventional extraction using hexane are not significantly
different when the main physicochemical parameters,
such as the saponification index and iodine value are considered.
