Clinical risk factors can help identify patients at the
highest risk for cardiotoxicity. A recent metaanalysis
of 18 studies with over 22 815 patients
treated with anthracyclines showed that the most
important risk predictor for cardiotoxicity was
cumulative anthracycline dose. Chest radiation
therapy, young or old age, high or low body weight,
African–American ethnicity and comorbidities,
including diabetes and hypertension, are among
other significant risk factors [
