The US Department of Labor identified RSIs as the fastest growing workplace injuries, and can
result any time there is a mismatch between physical requirement of the job and the physical capacity of the
human body. According to a 1993 Occupational Safety & Health Administration document, employers
reported 1 of 4 lost-time injuries and illnesses due to RSIs to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (6 150000 cases
in 1993 represented 32% involving upper extremities) (Reich RB, http://www.osha.gov/pls/oshaweb/
