Earlier that year, Chairman McElveen-Hunter told Evans that the Board's executive committee was unhappy with her “command and control" management style. When the ARC announced that Evans was resigning to spend time with her family, many did not believe the explanation. One analyst noted that, "It's unusual to have a board that doesn't get along with four different presidents in such short order. I mean, it is the hiring and firing agency, and it doesn't seem to like anybody that it selects.When Evans resigned in December 2005 following Katrina, there were rumors that she had clashed with the Board over her removal of several executives.
