Because most of the research has focused on
the production of saturated lactone, e.g. g-decalactone, very little information was available
until recently on the 6PP biosynthetic pathway. Our experiments demonstrate that it is possible to
produce 6PP from different vegetable oils containing hydroxylated, e.g. ricinoleic acid, or non hydroxylated,
e.g. oleic acid, linoleic acid, linolenic acid, fatty acids (Table 5) as well as from glucose (Table 3).
