In the present study, shrimp survival was different between rearing systems, with higher survivals obtained in the low water exchange recirculation system as compared to flow-through water system. Courtland (1999) indicated that improved water conditions in closed recirculation systems reduced stress in broodstock shrimp and decreased broodstock mortality from 0.5% per night in a flow-through system to 0.1% in a recirculation system.
