Credit 2: Innovative Wastewater Technologies (2 points)
The purpose for this subcategory is to reduce amount of wastewater released and potable water demand which is used for carry off waste matter in sewage system. There are two alternative options for meeting this credit: 1) reducing potable water consumption for sewage systems by 50% (using water-conserving fixtures or reusing nonpotable water), and 2) Treat 50% of wastewater generated on site. For wastewater treatment, many technologies can be utilized such as package biological nutrient systems, constructed wetlands, and high-efficiency filtration systems.
Credit 3: Water Use Reduction (2-4 points)
This is the next step for prerequisite 1 mentioned before. For prerequisite, it requires that project can be achieved if project uses water with 20% less than baseline values. However, this section addresses that project can gain more points if it can meet each percentage value of water use reduction. Three step criteria are established: 1) earn 2 points for 30% reduction, earn 3 points for 35% reduction, and earn 4 points for 40% reduction.
