Radiation Sickness: US Navy
When this disaster unfolded, I was out near the Iranian border in Afghanistan. The US Navy invited me to Japan to go on this aircraft carrier conducting relief operations, so I made many flights, such as to Kandahar, Dubai, Thailand to refit gear, then over to Tokyo. I got to Tokyo and the US Navy pretended they did not know I was coming. (Thousands of dollars in flights/travel later...)
I was upset, of course, but I also smelled a rat, and suspected that something had gone wrong on the aircraft carrier, and I posted some guarded words that caused some people to believe that I was stomping my feet for having flown from Afghanistan out of my pocket at invitation of the Navy in Japan, only to be denied. Yes, of course I was angry after ending the Afghanistan work to hit Japan. However, I truly smelled something was off with the US Navy in Japan, and I said so, which angered people.
And now we know what the rat was that I smelled. The ship was apparently radioactive, which I suspected, but I more suspected that aircraft were coming back contaminated.
Please, as has been proven so many times, just because posts can be explained because I am upset with something, does not make them untrue. (Yes, I was angry with Generals Menard and McChrystal in Afghanistan, but that I was angry with their performance and attitudes did not make my dispatches wrong -- both were relieved of command.)
