Full institutionalization. The March 1982 Academic Council
resolution effectively mad e the trimester system a permanent feature of
the programme of the D e La Salle University. Pursuant to that
resolution, the Trimester Task Force created at the beginning of school
year 1981-82 became the permanent Tripartite Trimester Committee.
The Trimester Evaluation Committee completed its year-long research
and was dissolved, the function of continuing evaluation of the trimester
system being assumed by the Institutional Testing and Evaluation
Centre, a regular unit of the University. This Centre submitted
evaluation reports to the Trimester Committee and to various office and
unit heads in the school years 1982-83 and 1983-84. The Student
Council continued to conduct its ow n studies on the Trimester by
gathering suggestions, complaints and proposals from the student body,
co-ordinating such reports with the Institutional Testing and Evaluation
Centre and submitting their recommendations to the Tripartite Trimester
Committee.
Eventually this Committee was expanded in membership. In 1985,
it accommodated representatives from the parents' and non-teaching
staff sectors and became the Multisectoral Committee. It has since
become a forum for even non-trimester related matters, serving as a
useful preliminary medium of discussion for a number of agenda items
that were eventually brought to the Academic Council.
Not only did the students and the administrators continue to discuss
the ongoing trimester system, but so did the faculty, non-teaching staff
and the parents, in their respective sectoral committees.
