Louis Vuitton is one of the world's most famous makers of luxury goods and is acknowledged as the creator of the first "designer label." The LV logo on a product has been a recognized guarantee of high quality for more than one hundred fifty years.
LOUIS VUITTON PACKED LUGGAGE for wealthy Parisian families in the early 1800s. He started his rise to fame when the emperor Napoleon III appointed him to pack the dresses of his wife, the Empress Eugenie. Louis Vuitton actually started his business in Paris in 1854 by designing and manufacturing trunks for traveling rich. One of his earliest inventions was luggage that was flat and that therefore could be easily stacked in railway carriages.
His trunks were such a hit that he had expand his factory within a few years, relocating it to Asnieres, a suburb of Paris, in 1860. Vuitton decided to design handbags, and soon they were popular as his trunks. Noe bags were originally made to carry five bottle of champagne, but their success was so amazing that upscale woman everywhere began to carry this practical bag.
AS THE YEARS WENT BY, the Vuitton line gained international recognition, thanks in part to the bronze and the gold medals the company obtained for its high-quality traveling trunks at the 1867 and 1889 World's Fairs, both held in Paris.
Today the Louis Vuitton brand still stands for the highest quality. For example, any pure that is produced in their factory and that dose not meet their exacting standards is destroyed. This company has stood the test of time for a century and a half and continues to be a force in the world of fashion.
Nowadays, Vuitton's luggage company is part of a conglomerate that produces luxury consumer goods, with products that include perfume, distilled spirits, designer clothing, and travel books.
