The context is thus a frame for the event being
examined and provides resources for its appropriate
interpretation. It involves two entities: a focal event
and a field of action within which the event is
embedded. Duranti and Goodwin (1992:6-8) have
identified attributes of contexts that need to be
attained in order to participate in the contextual
domain. Below we outline four attributes of
contexts used in ML that need to be attained, using
examples from previous ML contextualised tasks
(see also Bansilal & Debba, 2012, for a more
detailed account):
