The ability of tilapiine fish to create viable interspecific hybrids makes them an idealorganism for genetic studies, using backcrosses or F2 intercrosses as a segregatingpopulation .
In this study, we used an F2 hybrid population, involving two species of tilapia, Oreochromis aureus and Oreochromis
mossambicus, differing in their tolerance to low temperature ,response to stress and growth rate .
