The molecular mechanism of the attenuating effects of KRGE against busulfan-induced adverse effects on the male reproductive system can be speculated. A previous report showed that the attenuating effects of KRGE on cisplatin-induced nausea and vomiting are achieved through the inhibition of 5-HT3 receptor channel activity [10]. In the present study, although we found that preadministration of KRGE exhibits protective effects against busulfan-induced damage to the male reproductive system, we could not explain the possible mechanism underlying KRGE- induced attenuation against busulfan-induced damage to the male reproductive system. Thus, although KRGE might be applied as a useful agent for prevention of damage induced by anticancer agents in the male reproductive system, further study is required to elucidate the molecular mechanism of KRGE against busulfan- induced adverse effects in the male reproductive system.
