The title of this movie takes its operative meaning from the responsibility of a football team’s offensive left tackle to protect the “blind side” of a right-handed quarterback. There is a humorous yet touching scene in the movie where Leigh Ann explains this to Michael by essentially reminding him of how he promised to always watch her back. She suggests that he think of his quarterback as being her and thus protect him as if he were. Needless to say, the results are impressive. The next guy who tries to hit the quarterback has a very unpleasant experience. However, in my opinion, the most powerful moment in the story comes a bit later when one of Mrs. Tuohy’s friends suggests she think of how much she is changing Michael’s life and Leigh Anne responds that, on the contrary, Michael is changing hers.
