Identify requirements via interviews: The research team interviewed
seven experienced engineers, including one geologist,
two geotechnical engineers, two hydraulics engineers,
one structural engineer, and one civil engineer, whose experience
is around 20 years, in Phase I. The initial interviews were
targeted to capture the domain specific requirements from different
engineering perspectives for risk assessments. The initial
interviews used the major categories of information that
were identified from the literature review detailed in the previous
section. Engineers were asked to provide the information
they would like to see and the way they would like to
see it at a level where a value could be assigned (i.e., at attribute
value pair level) to eliminate any ambiguity in terms of the
meaning of the terms from different engineering perspectives.
