Luis XIV has been a key personality, not only on a political level, but also thanks to his style
The XVII° century is an epoch full of political contrasts, that are delimited by two important historical events: the Edict of Nantes in 1598 marks its beginning, and the death of Louis XIV, that happened in 1715, marks its end. This epoch is characterized by the ‘splendor’ of Baroque art, by the love for art, beauty, fashion and all the most bizarre things proposed by Louis XIV, that was also known as the Sun King. Baroque influenced every expression of art, such as writing, literature, painting, sculpture and architecture. In this period, thanks to Louis XIV, Paris turned into the universal center for beauty and good taste. Louis XIV loved to take care of his body, without leaving out any details; he took care of his toilette, of the choice of his pieces of clothing, as they were always new and rich, and he cared about every type of ornament.
