The Seed Law was enacted in January 2011.
The Law stipulates the rules regulating
research, breeding and selection, varietal
development and release of new varieties,
seed production and distribution, registration
and approval of new crop varieties, and
quality control. Under the Myanmar Seed Law,
a National Seed Committee (NSC) and a
Technical Seed Committee (TSC) were formed
to organize and manage crop variety testing,
evaluation, registration, and formal seed
production and distribution. Other legislation
related to seeds are indicated in Table 3.
