Intrapersonal barriers [Figure involve individual psychological states
and attributes which interact with leisure preferences rather than intervening
between preferences and participation. Examples of intrapersonal barriers
include stress, depression, anxiety, religiosity, kin and non-kin reference
group attitudes, prior socialization into specific leisure activities, perceived
self-skill, and subjective evaluations of the appropriateness and availability
of various leisure activities. (Crawford & Godbey, 1987, p. 122)
