After eight weeks, there were no statistical differences
between the groups. At need of treatment VAS was reduced
6.5 (mm) in the MET and 4.2 in the ET). Sit-to-stand, as a
measure on function, increased from 10.3 s to 11.7 in the
ET, and from 9.6 to 12.3 in the MET, with no statistical
difference between groups. The results after the 6-month
follow-up showed no difference between groups (Table 3).
Anxiety and depression scores did not differ between
groups at any point, nor did it predict the outcome of the
intervention. Other studies have shown psychosocial variables
to be important predictors of musculoskeletal pain,
both in osteoarthritis (Skou et al., 2014) and other musculoskeletal
disorders (Lucchetti et al., 2012).
