Hofstede (2010) was not satisfied with the relevance of the GLOBE study
methods, since the study resulted in a majority of negative correlations between "as it is"
and "as it should be" (p. 1340). The lack of linearity between the GLOBE intention of
measuring practices ("as is") and values ("as it should be") was a quandary for Dorfman
et al. (2004) of the GLOBE research team. Based on these results, Hofstede (2010)
refuted the significance of GLOBE measurements since "seven out of the nine GLOBE
dimensions the country-level correlations between the 'as is' and 'as should be' answers
were significantly negative" (p. 1340).
