A set of 12 instances were solved by the GLS model in Martínez and Toso (2015) and also by the approach proposed in this paper, in order to compare production plans and analyze the practical advantages of the proposed model. Table 8 presents the main elements of the production plans provided by GLSP model and the one proposed (model (1)–(19)). This table shows: total costs, setup and inventory costs, total setup time, total production time, capacity consumption, and the total molding patterns used along the planning horizon. This also shows the differences ðD Þ for all these elements, when comparing the solution provided by the proposed model with the solution provided by the GLSP model.
