The cells of C. shehatae Y-049 were recovered aseptically from each round of fermentation of wood
hydrolyzates. Recycled cells were inoculated into a fresh batch of wood hydrolyzate for fermentation. The effect
of cell recycling and number of recycling cycles on ethanol production was studied. The effect of cell recycling
during optimization of nutrient substitution on fermentation of wood hydrolyzate was also studied.
