Loy Krathong Day is one of the most popular festivals of Thailand celebrated annually on the Full-Moon Day of the Twelfth Lunar Month. The word loy means to float, and a krathong is a banana leaf cup. The Krathong usually contains a candle, three joss-sticks, some flowers and coins. People place a candle and incense sticks in their krathongs and then float them on a local river or pond. As they push away their krathong, The floating of a Krathong' is intended to float away ill fortune as well as to express apologies to Khongkha, the River Goddess.
