We believe that the issue of whether spirituality can have a positive impact
on both employees and organizations is particularly important because many
chief executive officers (CEOs) will not justify a practice unless it favorably
impacts the bottom line. Thus, we believe that researching whether and under
what conditions spirituality can have a positive impact on an organization and
its employees is not only an important academic question, but also is relevant
for practice. Such research is needed if we are to create a paradigm shift in
CEOs so that they incorporate spiritual principles into their organizations.
