The Act
1. The person who has completed the age of 60 and older and holds Thai nationality is considered an aged person according to this Act.
2. The elderly have the right to receive protection, promotion and support
3. An organization responsible for the protection and promotion of the elderly, and the administrative and technical affairs of the Council has to be established: The Elderly Bureau subjected to Bureau of Youth, Inferior, Disabled and Aged, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security.
4. Tax reduction is permitted in the following cases: (a) Donator of Fortune or assets to the foundation can obtain a reduction of tax or earning calculation, or be exempted from the tax of the donated assets; and (b) The caregiver of aged parents, who cannot earn enough to make living, can obtain a tax reduction.
The Constitution establishes a society based on democratic values , social justice and fundamental human rights and seeks to improve the quality of life of all citizens and to free the potential of each person.
In term of the Bill of Rights as set out in the Constitution , everyone has inherent dignity and the right to have their dignity respected and protected
The State must create an enabling environment in which the rights in the Bill of Rights must be respected , protected and fulfilled.
It is necessary to effect changes to existing laws relating to older person in order to facilitate accessible , equitable and affordable services to older person and to empower older persons to continue to live meaningfully and constructively in a society that recognizes them as important sources of knowledge , wisdom and expertise.
