The fact subjects had high scores for health
promoting behaviors suggest that they usually had
good health promoting behaviors during their pregnancy.
These findings are consistent with many quantitative
and qualitative studies in the literature.
A possible explanation could be that women who chose to get
pregnant later in life are more likely to have a higher
education level and higher family income making
them more likely to be knowledgeable about and able
to participate in health promoting behaviors.
Furthermore, they may have planned well for their
pregnancies by preparing themselves both physically
and psychologically.
