This still life is exactly what I like to produce for a final. I think it looks classes and very professional. The lighting in this photograph is phenomenal and the capture of the glass is sharp and very visible despite it being captured against a black background. My first thought of still life when this brief was first handed to me was a photograph of things that have or is associated with life but cannot move or are still in the photograph e.g. newborns/foetus, plants, earth wind fire etc. However, because the brief states that the object has to have some meaning to me, creating a photograph like this makes it even more difficult. However, glass is something I use everyday hence the lens on a camera, the container my drinks are poured in, the objects resting on my nose each and everyday helping my sight improve etc. Although it’s simple, this is the closest example to my ideal still life photograph. I generally don’t feel that excited for still life a genre, which is why I’m after a simple laid-back approach. However, my interpretation of this shot will most probably have a little bit more life injected into the photograph simple because I am a bubbly person and getting my character in the photograph is the most important thing to me.
