Pot experiments were carried out at Faculty of Agriculture, Ain Shams University. Cairo, Egypt during 2011 and 2012. The experiments were laid out in a randomized complete design consisting of three treatments with three replicates. American variety Cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) stems with five to seven nodes were planted horizontally in pots 50 cm diameter and 70 cm in depth. The crop was maintained at available water for the first month to enhance good crop establishment. Three different water regimes, two which were based on fractions of field capacity (FC), are presented in Table 1.
