It is not exactly as simple as what you have said here.
I don’t think it is KOB’s fault to send this old file to me accidentally. The fact is if you have told her to make change in accordance to my suggestions that I told BIG & you when I were in BKK last week? If not, how could KOB knew what to amend. I am very sure the one sent to me is the ONLY one version in hand (if not, you can send me the right version)?
1. It is a problem of not following thing strictly, when BIG shown me the Calendar draft of 2016. I was pleased & I suggested right away some points on the design. I could clearly remembered that BIG has not drawn any note on my comment. How he could have followed my comments?
2. We always easily overlooked the past record to make sure the right version before we sent? If no follow up nor no proper review made, this kind of problem that I can guarantee will recur happening certainly.
3. When we have problem, we easily get a scapegoat & finger pointing to run away from the blame. Stand behind someone is easy. NEVER sweep problem under carpet & sit on it pretending it was never happened!
4. It is not a responsible managerial attitude. In last 19 years, even I have been the Boss, but I never run away for any fault caused by my mistake. What I did was I faced big or small blame with courage without fear although it might be very embarrassing. I found out more information before I admitted & make officially apology. And then I group all colleagues concerned to ratify problem one by one. And I followed up with measures we mutually agreed upon to manage NOT to make “the same mistake twice by all means”. That is most important. That is the ONLY way to demonstrate Manager’s accountability.
5. In short……COURAGE…..FACE PROBLEM…..LEARN FACT..FIND OUT ROOT CAUSE(S)……..RATIFY PROBLEM…..MANAGE NO SAME MISTAKE TWICE.
6. I don’t want to say too much, if it is useful please take it & learn from mistake. I don’t want to see any finger pointing at scapegoat. It is not fair.
7. To be a eligible paid managers, we have to be
Fair to all colleagues, disregard of seniority;
Justice to facts solely &
Transparent for all facts without hiding.
