The studied inorganic and organic arsenic species are shown in
Fig. 2. Quantification of total inorganic arsenic inwater sampleswas initiated
by first reducing any As(V) present in thewater to As(III)withNaI
and ascorbic acid. The As(III)was then hydridedwith NaBH4 in an acidic
environment. The volatile AsH3was determined by hydride generationatomic
absorption spectroscopy (AA6800-Shimadzu). A calibration
curve was established with the concentration range of 1–10 μg/L,
R2 N 0.995, using an AAS arsenic standard solution (1000 μg/L, Fluka).
